Process:

Current Openings:

Trauma/Critical Care Surgeon

MD or DO and must be certified by the American Board of Surgery. The ideal candidate will be Board-Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care coming from a Level I/II urban trauma center. Prior experience as deployed military in an active war zone or academic experience preferred. We are looking for candidates who are reliable under pressure, highly motivated, have excellent communication skills and are goal oriented. This position calls for someone with a strong commitment to education as well as strong leadership skills. The trauma surgeon has experience with all elements of prehospital, resuscitation and operative aspects of trauma care. They are experts at making initial assessments, applying the appropriate diagnostic algorithms and making sound decisions with respect to operative vs. non-operative trauma. The trauma/critical care specialist will work with other specialized surgeons to stabilize patients in critical condition. The trauma surgeon is facile at performing emergency bedside procedures – endotracheal intubation, E-FAST examination, central and arterial line access, dialysis access, tube thoracostomy, pericardio/paracentesis, bronchoscopy and familiar with standard operative techniques for the severely injured patient. The applicant will feel comfortable managing all aspects of organ dysfunction in the ICU and applying the necessary technologies to improve patient survivability after injury. The candidate will participate in a robust QI process and contribute to the continued accreditation of the trauma center. Finally, a key aspect of the job is the ability to remain current with trauma techniques and trauma/ICU best practices, to participate in research, and to work with residents and fellows while on call.

General/Acute Care Surgeon

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in general surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques. This position involves a broad range of surgical procedures, including elective surgeries and emergency operations.

Vascular Surgeon

Board-certified or board-eligible vascular surgeon, capable of performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on arteries, veins, and the heart.  The job includes performing and documenting complete vascular evaluations, treating a wide variety of vascular conditions, including arterial blockages, aneurysms, blockages, varicose veins, venous insufficiency, and deep vein thrombosis.  The vascular surgeon will be able to perform all vascular procedures, including open surgeries, thrombectomies, and dialysis access procedures.  Knowledge of appropriate endovascular options is highly desirable.  A special interest in wound care preferred.  Vascular surgeon partners may be asked to assist general/trauma surgeons in the performance of complex vascular surgeries.  The vascular surgeon will perform technical evaluations and write comprehensive vascular reports, and assist with the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of patients. The vascular surgeon will contribute to the training of residents and fellows.  Desirable candidates will also write case studies, perform research, participate in CME activities, and present cases at professional meetings.

Hepatobiliary Surgeon

Board-certified or board-eligible general surgeon with specialty training in hepatobiliary/liver transplant surgery.  The hepatobiliary surgery candidate must have expertise in performing complex hepatobiliary surgeries, including liver resections, bile duct reconstructions, and liver transplantation.  The candidate must have the physical stamina to handle the demands of long surgeries and post-operative care.  The hepatobiliary surgeon will conduct consultations with patients to discuss surgical options and explain the risks and benefits of each procedure.  The hepatobiliary surgeon will conduct patient medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests to determine the best course of treatment.  The hepatobiliary surgeon will collaborate with other medical professionals, such as gastroenterologists and oncologists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.  Attendance at tumor board is mandatory.  The candidate will be up to date with the latest surgical techniques and medical advancements in hepatobiliary surgery.  The candidate should have experience in conducting research and teaching hepatobiliary surgery to medical students, residents, and fellows.

Minimally Invasive/Robotic Surgeon

Seeking a fellowship trained Minimally Invasive Surgeon with special interest in hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction.  Eligible candidates must be board certified in General Surgery, able to and have completed a Minimally Invasive/Robotic Surgery fellowship and possess certification with advanced technical tools including the DaVinci Xi robotic platform.  The applicant will join broad practice, including both primary and revisional hernia and foregut cases.   An excellent applicant must be facile with laparoscopic RYGB, sleeves and revisions.  In addition to daily rounds and clinical duties, responsibilities will include providing emergency general surgery call coverage. Applicants should have a strong interest in resident teaching and medical student education. No responsibility for trauma call coverage is expected or required.  Desirable candidates will also write case studies, perform research, participate in CME activities, and present cases at professional meetings (SAGES).

Surgical Oncologist

Board-certified or board-eligible surgical oncologist with extensive experience in the surgical treatment of cancer.  The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team (tumor board) to develop and implement a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to each patient’s oncologic needs.  The candidate will possess knowledge of oncology and cancer treatment protocols, specifically as they relate to Breast, Endocrine and GI surgery.  The surgical oncologist will be involved in preoperative and postoperative care, as well as ongoing patient management and follow-up. The applicant will be current with the latest advancements in oncology and surgical techniques, have the option to participate in clinical research, and contribute to the education and training of medical students and residents.

Colorectal Surgeon

Board-certified or board-eligible general surgeon with additional subspecialty expertise in Colorectal Surgery.  They will be responsible for accurately diagnosing various colorectal conditions through thorough patient evaluations, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests such as colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, and imaging studies (US, CT, MRI).  Colorectal surgeons will develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique colorectal needs.  Surgical interventions may include colectomies (partial or total removal of the colon), rectal resections, hemorrhoidectomies, fistulotomies, and procedures to treat colorectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), diverticulitis, and other colorectal-anorectal conditions.  A good colorectal applicant will be experienced in the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques and robotic-assisted surgery.  In addition to surgical expertise, colorectal surgeons may also be involved in screening and surveillance programs for patients at high risk of developing colorectal cancer, as well as in the management of complex pelvic floor disorders such as fecal incontinence and rectal prolapse.  Multidisciplinary participation in tumor board is expected.  In addition to standard referrals for colorectal/anorectal disease, outpatient clinic evaluations may include colonoscopies or flexible sigmoidoscopies.  The colorectal surgeon will have experience teaching medical students and residents and be asked to participate in research and GME.

Critical Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

This role demands expertise in managing complex medical conditions while fostering collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.
